The heat pump combines liquid heating and vapour cooling. Vacuum enables evaporation at a lower temperature; the HP-S, HP-R or HP-Cf design is selected according to the properties of the liquid and residue.
We also need water composition, solids content, pH and information on foaming or volatile components. Testing a sample is useful for demanding media. Available energy sources and operating hours affect the choice of configuration.
What happens to the two output streams?
The process separates distillate and concentrate. Distillate quality and options for reuse or discharge must be assessed for the specific wastewater. Concentrate handling is also part of the design; evaporation does not mean waste disappears.

Feed
The water-based liquid enters the evaporation unit. Its composition, foaming and deposit formation affect the choice of version.
Evaporation
At reduced pressure, water boils at a lower temperature. In the HP series, the heat for evaporation and the cooling for condensation are provided by the heat pump.
Condensation
The water vapour condenses and is collected separately from the concentrate. The suitability of the distillate for reuse must be checked.
Concentrate
Less volatile components remain in the process vessel. The achievable concentration and discharge method are determined by the specific liquid.
